We are thrilled that Cirrus and our clients at RB are finalists in two categories of the prestigious CIPD People Management Awards. These awards celebrate and reward outstanding achievements in leading and developing people across organisations.
The Connected Centre of Excellence programme supports RB’s new £105m Centre of Excellence in Hull, which represents the largest single investment in the company’s history. The centre has been designed to promote modern, collaborative ways of working.
This innovative programme has built on RB’s winning culture to boost levels of collaboration, engagement and empowerment across UK-based R&D employees. It has also helped to increase staff retention and reduce absence.
Cirrus worked in partnership with RB to engage colleagues across R&D, carrying out a series of stakeholder interviews and workshops and creating a ‘Pathway to Excellence’ to provide a shared understanding of RB’s journey. A network of RB champions became role models for collaboration, taking on responsibility for workshop delivery and becoming catalysts for a wide range of extra-curricular activities to connect and engage colleagues such as an RB choir, conga, bake-off, sports and gaming groups.
“This wasn’t a top-down approach,” says Claire Gardner, Senior HR Business Partner at RB. “It was led by employees. A network of champions across R&D became cheerleaders for the programme.”
‘Working with the RB team has been one of the most rewarding partnerships in my career,” says Jenny Perkins, Head of Engagement at Cirrus. “At every stage they were curious and keen to learn, happy to experiment and extremely agile in changing and developing the programme and content. It was important that they ‘owned’ the activity from the start, using Cirrus as expert guides and critical friends, so that the culture change would be sustained and embedded in everything they did.”
The CIPD People Management Awards will be presented at a gala dinner at Grosvenor House in London on 24 September. We look forward to a great evening.
